Sneaker Ball Creates Connection, Community, and Spiritual Growth
On July 18, the Youth Ministries Department hosted a dynamic Sneaker Ball to celebrate, inspire, and connect young people in a relevant, Christ-centered way. Instead of a traditional banquet, the event embraced youth culture and created a welcoming space where attendees could invite friends and build new relationships.
Youth leadership was central to the event's success. Young people helped develop marketing, create social media content, and lead portions of the program. Outreach efforts drew youth from churches across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including community congregations and friends invited from school.
A powerful message, "Dirty Sneakers Can Be Cleaned," reminded attendees that God's grace offers restoration and renewal regardless of past mistakes. The Sneaker Ball Prayer Wall invited youth to share requests on paper sneakers and pray together, creating a meaningful worship experience.
The event made a lasting impression. Alexia Simone Hannah said, "I really loved playing all of the fun games at the Sneaker Ball. It was honestly a great experience that I'm so happy I got to share with many of my close friends." Wilda Black from the Grace Fellowship SDA church in Lucas, Texas, traveled more than an hour to attend and shared "The youth really enjoyed the Sneaker Event and have continued talking about it. It was a wonderful event that brought everyone together in a fun and meaningful way." She also shared that her youth are already looking forward to the next event.
In the months leading up to the Sneaker Ball, leaders observed renewed enthusiasm for ministry, worship, and fellowship among youth and young adults. This momentum aligns with the 2026 theme, "Ready for War," encouraging young people to be spiritually prepared and deepen their walk with Christ.
The Sneaker Ball showed that creative programming rooted in Christ can foster fellowship, outreach, and spiritual growth while helping young people feel seen, valued, and connected to Jesus and one another.
