Opening Doors to Health and Hope at Mount of Blessings
When Mount of Blessings Seventh-day Adventist Church in Dallas, Texas, hosted a community health fair, the goal was simple: let the surrounding community know the church is there to serve. Following Christ's method of ministry—mingling with people, showing sympathy, ministering to their needs, and then inviting them to follow Him—the church created a welcoming environment where physical, emotional, and spiritual needs could be addressed.
Nearly 300 community members, including many children, attended the event. Approximately half of the guests spoke primarily Spanish, and bilingual volunteers ensured every visitor felt welcomed, informed, and cared for throughout the day. While many attendees were already connected through the church's monthly food pantry ministry, others were visiting Mount of Blessings for the very first time.
Families received backpacks and school supplies, while guests were also invited to deepen their spiritual journey through Bible study invitations and literature highlighting the Adventist health message and the hope of Christ's soon return. Seven children expressed interest in joining the church's Pathfinder Club, opening the door to ongoing discipleship and spiritual growth.
Because each guest registered upon arrival, the church now has the opportunity to follow up personally with every family—not only to invite them to future events but also to continue serving as a source of encouragement, support, and practical assistance.
For Mount of Blessings, the health fair was more than a one-day outreach—it was the beginning of lasting relationships. The congregation continues to pray that the seeds planted through this ministry will lead many to a deeper connection with the church and, most importantly, with Jesus Christ.
