One District. One Ministry. One Purpose.
Grounded in the divine model of unity, where the Godhead work in perfect harmony, the inaugural Church Ministries Collaboration at Voice of Hope SDA Church demonstrated how church departments can align to fulfill a single mission. Guided by the theme "We Are Called" and the rallying cry "One District. One Ministry. One Purpose," leaders from the Southwest Region Conference Children's Ministries, Sabbath School, Youth/Young Adult Ministries, and Multimedia Ministries united to establish a blueprint for intergenerational ministry across Oklahoma.
A central premise of the event was that Sabbath School must serve as the primary engine for collaborative growth. By moving beyond traditional, siloed approaches, departments can create experiences that anchor families in God's Word while offering communities meaningful spiritual connection.
Young people were intentionally placed at the center of the day's activities. Youth and young adults co-led Sabbath School and Children's Church, gaining leadership experience while mentoring younger children. During Divine Worship, Youth and Young Adult Ministries Director Pastor Wesley McNorton challenged the rising generation to boldly answer God's calling. At the same time, Multimedia Ministries equipped the local church's youth media team by allowing them to manage event coverage and technical production.
Afternoon breakout sessions emphasized intergenerational mentoring and succession planning. Pastor Tyrone Boyd encouraged leaders to actively involve young people in teaching, outreach, visitation, and church leadership. Pastor Wesley McNorton hosted a discussion with youth leaders, while Dr. Lawanna McCoy challenged children's ministry leaders to recruit and mentor emerging leaders through practical service opportunities. Together, the sessions reinforced that ministry is about cultivating lifelong disciples equipped to lead.
Executive Secretary Jason North concluded the afternoon with a panel discussion on building healthy congregations before presenting membership trends that underscored the urgency of investing in children and youth. Conference President Dr. Carlton P. Byrd closed with an update on the conference and an inspiring vesper thought.
As the church enters a season of spiritual revival, leaders were challenged to strengthen local ministries through intentional mentorship, unified planning, and active discipleship. The collaborative model will continue throughout the Southwest Region Conference, with each region launching a youth-led digital storytelling project highlighting how God is working in local churches and communities.
The message of the collaboration was unmistakable: if the church is to remain vibrant and enduring, the next generation cannot wait for tomorrow; they must be trained, empowered, and called into active service today.
