Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Church began its 2026 evangelistic year with a strong commitment to soul-winning, launching with 21 days of prayer and fasting. During this season of seeking God’s guidance, an unexpected door opened through Dr. Robert Norwood’s community connections.
For the first time in its 76-year history, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo invited a church to participate. Ephesus SDA Church became not only the first church represented, but also the first Adventist church and the only vendor offering a fully plant-based menu.
Operating as “Eastside Eats: The Ephesus Experience,” inspired by Psalm 34:8, the ministry provided attendees with flavorful plant-based meals while sharing the Adventist health message. Many guests experienced plant-based cuisine for the first time.
This impactful outreach was made possible through the dedication of volunteers of all ages, working together in unity. Special thanks go to head chef Kenneth York, assistants Kris Brown and Larry Carter, and elder John Pickens for transportation support.
Beyond food, the team shared literature, prayed with attendees, and connected many to church ministries. For three weeks, Ephesus served San Antonio—offering hope, health, and faith—making a lasting community impact.
