African-American donations are vital because types O and B, the blood types of about 70% of African-Americans, are the blood types most in demand. Hispanics are the fastest growing part of the U.S. population; however, only a small percentage of Hispanics donate blood. Research has found that 60% of Hispanics have type O blood, which is the type most frequently requested by hospitals to treat patients with a range of health challenges. Please consider visiting a local church to donate blood and save lives across our community. Remember, when you give blood, you are giving a gift straight from your heart.
